Spend time booking a hotel

Most of us when it comes to arranging hotel accommodation whether for a weekend break or a two week holiday will spend only a short amount of time on this. Whereas they may spend several hours or even days arranging suitable flights. Generally when it comes to arranging hotel accommodation we don't take into account what the facility has to offer but rather the price. In most cases we tend to go with the cheapest price possible.

However there are certain things that you can do where you can arrange good quality accommodation without costing the earth these days. So below we offer a number of tips you may find extremely useful.

Tip 1 Phone The Hotel Direct Most hotels today have a free phone number that you call which then puts you through to their reservations centre. But instead you should aim to get the telephone number of the hotel you wish to stay in and contact them direct. This provides you with a stronger position to negotiate a better deal on your accommodation.

Tip 2 Don't Take the First Rate Offered Hotels today have lots of different rates for the rooms they have available and the first one is the one that is top of the list and generally the most expensive. Although this may seem reasonable don't be shy about asking what other rates they offer and never be afraid of telling them that you still feel what they are asking is too high.

Tip 3 Trade Up If the hotel is unwilling to move on the rate for the room then see if they are willing to offer any extras. For example see if they are willing to upgrade you from a standard room to a suite or a room that happens to be on the concierge floor.
